CEN and CENELEC have officially approved a Position Paper on the future European Research & Innovation Framework Programme (FP10). Developed by CEN-CLC/BT Working Group 3 ‘STAIR’ (STAndardization, Innovation and Research), this document outlines key strategic recommendations to enhance the role of standardization in European R&I.
On 31 January, CEN and CENELEC replied to the call for evidence launched by the European Commission on the upcoming Single Market Strategy. This Strategy aims to modernize the Single Market to better support European competitiveness and innovation. Regulation 1025/2012 on European Standardization is the key legal framework that facilitates the effective public-private partnership between CEN and CENELEC and the European Union/EFTA. Regulation 1025/2012 is currently undergoing evaluation by the European Commission, including a public consultation via a questionnaire that took place on the Have Your Say platform from 2 May 2024 to 25 July 2024.

This day marks the Schuman Declaration, which was presented on 9 May 1950 and proposed the creation of a European Coal and Steel Community, precursor to the European Union. Europe Day is also an opportunity to commemorate the historical events that led to the creation of the EU.
