Harmonized standards enabling certainty for thermal energy measurement across Europe

Five harmonized European standards for thermal energy meters have been officially cited in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), following the publication of Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2025/1939. CEN and CENELEC held workshops with DG TRADE on their international policy: standards as a key enabler for global trade

The 2025 IFAN International Standards Users Survey is an updated view of how organizations access and use standards, the challenges they are facing, and the elements on which organizations developing standards should focus to support them and deliver tangible value. With a record 861 responses across sectors and geographies, the results of the 2025 IFAN Survey confirm that quality and safety remain the primary drivers of the adoption of standards, while regulatory compliance and supplier requirements continue to justify their day-to-day usage with innovation increasingly recognized, especially when product development, R&D and design are viewed together.

CEN-CENELEC/JTC 22 ‘Quantum Technologies’ have published their first ever deliverable in the form of a Technical Report (TR). The document covers the universal gate-based quantum-computing model, also known as a digital or circuit quantum-computing model, on multiple physical systems. TR 18202:2025 slices down the overall complexity of quantum computing into two main groups of layers, summarizing theoretical and practical approaches with state-of-the-art definition.
