A new CENELEC Workshop is being planned which will complement the intersecting activities of the EU Research projects 'OPENTUNITY' and 'FEDECOM'. OPENTUNITY focuses on opening up the electricity ecosystem to increase the efforts of decarbonisation, while FEDECOM focuses on the technical and business ecosystem to demonstrate the advantages of energy sector coupling.
The CEN Workshop on was kicked off on 31st March 2025. The Workshop’s registered participants have agreed on the first draft of the CWA.

The 10th edition of the International Smart Utility Week (ISUW) 2024 was held from March 12th to March 16th, 2024, in New Delhi, India. This year’s conference focused on Smart Energy and Smart Mobility. ISUW 2024 featured an extensive program that included plenary sessions, bilateral workshops, keynote addresses, technical sessions, presentations of technical papers, tutorials, and guided technical tours. Bilateral Smart Grid workshops with the European Union, Germany (GIZ) and the United Kingdom (UK Gov.) were some of the highlights from the agenda.
The CEN and CENELEC Joint Technical Committee 14 ‘Energy management and energy efficiency in the framework of energy transition’ announces the publication of the new standard EN 17669:2022 ‘Energy Performance Contracts-Minimum requirements’ developed by their Working Group 4 ‘Energy financial aspects’.

On 13 September 2022, CEN and CENELEC officially became signatories of the Equality Platform for the Energy sector. Through this endorsement, CEN and CENELEC pledge to support the efforts towards promoting equal opportunities in the European energy sector.

CEN-CLC/JTC 14 ‘Energy management and energy efficiency in the framework of energy transition’ (JTC 14) just published new EN 17463 ‘Valuation of Energy related investments (VALERI)’. The standard is an important breakthrough in the developing field of “green finance”, and it was the result of the efforts of many European experts invested in this work during the difficult time of the pandemic.
