Today, on 20 May 2025, CEN and CENELEC are happy to join the European Quality Infrastructure Network to celebrate World Metrology Day.
This week the European Commission published the long-awaited Work Programme for 2025-2026 which sets out the R&I funding opportunities under Horizon Europe. Horizon Europe with is the largest R&I programme of the EU to date has as overarching goal to contribute to the green and digital transition as well as to building a united, more competitive, fairer and more resilient Europe.

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, Europe not only reflects back on the hopes of peace, integration and democratic cooperation in Europe, but the day where the foundation of the European Union was solidified. One notable success of this cooperation has and continues to be the European Single Market.

The event ‘Swappable Batteries: A Clean Revolution for European Urban Mobility?’ took place on 9 April in the European Parliament. Hosted and opened by MEP Pierfrancesco Maran (S&D) and organized by the Horizon Europe Stan4SWAP project, the event brought together diverse stakeholders to explore the future of swappable battery systems and the crucial role of standardization in supporting cleaner, more efficient urban mobility.
CEN and CENELEC are pleased to support the dissemination of the survey launched by the European Commission on the Codes of Practice for Knowledge Valorisation, adopted between 2023 and 2024.
CEN and CENELEC warmly welcome the European Commission’s publication of the Annual Union Work Programme 2025 for Standardization (AUWP), setting out six priorities and 78 actions to enhance industrial resilience, foster the digital and green transitions, support EU space infrastructure, and strengthen the internal market. This programme has been drawn up to specifically support EU policies and legislation with the objective of contributing to a green, digital and resilient Single Market, as well as the EU’s international objectives.
On 21 March 2025, the CEN and CENELEC Industry Advisory Forum (IAF) held the kick-off meeting for its third mandate. During the meeting, IAF members had the opportunity to share expectations and key urgencies. The Chair and Co-Chair for the next term were also elected.
On 19 March 2025, the CORALIS Final Conference took place in Brussels, bringing together about 100 participants from industry, policy, and research. Organized by the CORALIS Consortium and EEIP, the event marked the conclusion of the EU-funded project aimed at demonstrating and scaling Industrial Symbiosis (IS) solutions across Europe. RISERS was glad to take part in the closing roundtable, contributing perspectives on how standardization can help turn Industrial Symbiosis into a mainstream practice.
The European Standardization Organisations (ESOs) CEN, CENELEC, ETSI, together with ENISA, the EU Agency for Cybersecurity, successfully co-hosted the 9th Cybersecurity Standardization Conference on 20 March 2025 in Brussels.
