The recently published CEN/TS 18272-1 ‘Textiles – Circular economy for textile products – Part 1: General principles and guidance’ provides a common European framework for applying circular economy principles to textile products and the textile value chain. It brings together key principles, terminology and guidance, helping stakeholders develop a shared understanding of circularity in the textile sector.
A new CEN Workshop is being established to build upon the innovative outcomes of the European research project FLEXCRASH (Flexible and hybrid manufacturing of green aluminium to produce tailored adaptive crash-tolerant structures). Medical device labels contain a remarkable amount of information in a very limited space. To help ensure that critical information can be understood regardless of language or geography, manufacturers rely on internationally recognized graphical symbols to replace text that requires translation. One of the most widely used standards supporting this practice is EN ISO 15223-1 ‘Medical devices — Symbols to be used with information to be supplied by the manufacturer — Part 1: General requirements’.
Methane (CH4) is the second most important Greenhouse Gas (GHG) contributor to climate change. 60% of the global methane emissions result from human activity, 1/3 of which is generated in the energy sector. To address the climate change challenge, the European Union has adopted Regulation (EU) 2024/1787 on the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector, which sets ambitious requirements applicable to the oil and fossil gas infrastructures in Europe. Considering that the EU imports most of its oil and fossil gas, Regulation (EU) 2024/1787 also addresses methane emissions occurring outside the EU, with respect to crude oil and natural gas (the main component of which is methane) placed on the EU market.

The project’s vision is to develop a sustainable and safe alternative to coatings made from per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances for use across a variety of industries.
The European Commission, through the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), is funding experts to join the TRUST project. It is a strategic initiative which primary objective is to provide, for road restraint systems, a technical contribution in support of Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 November 2024 laying down harmonized rules for the marketing of construction products and repealing Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 and CPR Acquis.

CEN and the Institute of Standards of Cambodia (ISC) signed a License Agreement in May 2026 covering the adoption of more than 50 Eurocodes. The national adoption process is expected to be completed by June 2027.
Two key standards supporting safe steam sterilization and pressure equipment have been cited in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). EN 13060:2025 on small steam sterilizers and EN 14222:2021+A1:2025 on stainless steel steam boilers now provide harmonized tools to demonstrate conformity with the Medical Device Regulation for a wide range of sterilization equipment.
