CENELEC published a new important standard for the railway community. Developed by CLC/TC 9X ‘Electrical and electronic applications for railways’, EN 50388-2:2025 ‘Fixed installations and rolling stock for railway applications - Technical criteria for the coordination between electric traction power supply systems and rolling stock to achieve interoperability - Part 2: Stability and harmonics’ establishes the acceptance criteria, according to EN 50388-1:2022, for the compatibility between traction units and power supply for known phenomena and known technologies.

SBS has launched a new and updated version of its SME Compatibility Test for Standards. The Compatibility Test, originally launched at the end of 2020, provides an overall appraisal of the SME compatibility of a given standard. The Compatibility Test is based on CEN and CENELEC and ISO Guide 17 “Guidance for writing standards taking into account micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) needs”.

CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, welcomes the publication of EN 1384:2023 'Helmets for equestrian activities’ as a harmonized standard (hEN), after its citation in the official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) on 11 December.

ISO/TC 260 on Human Resource Management is currently looking at preparing an international standard on ‘Guidance for risk management and the ethical use and adoption of technology’.
