SMART standards are about developing machine-readable standards. Since the launch of SMART in January 2025, CEN and CENELEC Technical Bodies have started drafting. We are proud to announce that, as promised, TCs can now publish their SMART standards!
The CEN Workshop on was kicked off on 8th September 2023. The Workshop’s registered participants have agreed on the first draft of the CWA.

The European Commission still continues to publish new reports from the High-Level Forum on European Standardization’s workstreams. The new reports include recommendations on standardization in different fields and how they can support the relevant sectors across Europe.
CEN, CENELEC and ETSI prepared a recommendation paper on Industrial Data, which was developed by the CEN-CENELEC-ETSI Coordination Group on Smart Manufacturing.

The 10th edition of the International Smart Utility Week (ISUW) 2024 was held from March 12th to March 16th, 2024, in New Delhi, India. This year’s conference focused on Smart Energy and Smart Mobility. ISUW 2024 featured an extensive program that included plenary sessions, bilateral workshops, keynote addresses, technical sessions, presentations of technical papers, tutorials, and guided technical tours. Bilateral Smart Grid workshops with the European Union, Germany (GIZ) and the United Kingdom (UK Gov.) were some of the highlights from the agenda.
Through the introduction of new technologies and connectivity, Industry 4.0 projects allow manufacturers to increase the efficiency and quality of their processes. Now, a new CEN and CENELEC Workshop Agreement will provide the basis for the establishment of a European federated smart factory ecosystem that will facilitate the exchange of innovation and information across a wide array of stakeholders around Europe.
