A new CEN Workshop is being established entitled “Ultrasound-assisted production of lignin nanoparticles”. This Workshop arises from the Horizon 2020 BIOMAC project (European Sustainable BIO-based nanoMAterials Community). The project seeks to establish an Open Innovation Test Bed (IOTB), a true collaborative ecosystem where technologies and solutions utilising nano-enabled bio-based materials (NBMs) will be upscaled and prepared for market applications.
A new CEN Workshop is being established entitled “Reference Architecture for AI solutions’ application within process industry – the EU project s-X-AIPI experience”. This Workshop arises from the Horizon 2020 s-X-AIPI project (self-X Artificial Intelligence for European Process Industry digital transformation). The s-X-AIPI project endeavour is to research, develop, test, and validate a bespoke suite of trustworthy self-X AI technologies tailored for process industries. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between AI capabilities and traditional automation processes, ensuring that AI tools are both accessible and effective across various industrial applications.
A new CEN Workshop is being established to build upon the innovative outcomes of the VARCITIES European Project (VISIONARY NATURE BASED ACTIONS FOR HEALTH, WELLBEING & RESILIENCE IN CITIES). The project’s vision is to implement visionary solutions in cities, creating sustainable models aimed at improving the health and well-being of citizens facing diverse climatic conditions and urban challenges.
The CEN Workshop on ‘Characterization and testing of membranes for gas separation applications’ was kicked off on 04 June 2024. The Workshop’s registered participants have agreed on the final draft of the CWA.

The CWA establishes a common view on how a Digital Product Passport (DPP) for Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) should be structured and which data are necessary to develop circularity in electronics.
A new CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) is currently being developed to establish guidelines aimed at enabling and optimizing data collection along textile supply chains, with the objective of improving traceability, transparency, and sustainability claims, in line with European regulations. This CWA will build upon the outcomes of the TRICK project, a research and innovation initiative funded by the Horizon 2020 program, which leverages blockchain technology to support circular economy principles and product traceability.
As the use of drones, or Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), grows across industries, the potential for misuse and threats is also increasing, particularly in sensitive areas such as airports, prisons, and critical infrastructure. To address these risks, the new CWA 18150:2024 presents a standardized test methodology that enables a unified approach to detecting, tracking, and identifying (DTI) drones, providing essential guidelines for law enforcement agencies and industries tasked with protecting lower airspace.
The content of this proposed CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) is developed as part of the Horizon Europe project n. 101121167 TeamUP “Holistic capability and technology evaluation and co-creation framework for upskilled first responders and enhanced CBRN-E response”.
