The European Commission, through the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), is funding experts to join the BT4PT project, a strategic initiative to create a European Standard (EN) for barcode ticketing that will enable seamless multimodal and multi-operator travel across Europe.
The Global Data Service Organization for Tyres and Automotive Components (GDSO) has been formally registered as a Liaison Organization with the CEN-CENELEC Joint Technical Committee 24 (JTC 24) – Digital Product Passport – Framework and System.
A new CEN Workshop is being planned which will complement the activities of the EU’s Horizon Europe project entitled 'Digital Twins Enabled Indoor Air Quality Management for Healthy Living (TwinAIR)'. This project introduces a technological solutions system to improve air quality across a variety of indoor habitats, including residences, transport, hospitals, schools and workplaces.
Noise pollution is one of the major challenges of public transport systems. The impact noise and vibration, caused by the interaction between heavy vehicles and infrastructure, has on human health is a major concern in railway. Manufacturers, operators and infrastructure managers work together to develop new methods not only to mitigate the emissions but also to better measure it. Without precise measurement methods, no robust solution is possible.
This tender is being run in the context of a project called Readability Platforms that will, amongst other things, support the European Commission in its conformity with Regulation 1049 regarding citizen access to documents.
After more than 20 years serving the European standardization organizations CEN and CENELEC, Mrs Elena Santiago Cid, Director General of CEN and CENELEC and head of the CEN and CENELEC Management Centre (CCMC), is leaving the organizations on 2 October.
The CEN Workshop was kicked off on 28th April 2025. The Workshop’s registered participants have agreed on the first draft of the CWA.
