Finding the right standards

A range of support services and tools are available to help you keep up to date with standardization activities and identify the right standards for your business and how to use them.

CEN and CENELEC are working constantly to provide new standards which business and industry need, as well as ensuring existing standards continue to be 'fit for purpose'.  Therefore, it is important for all organizations who use standards, including SMEs, to keep up to date about new and revised standards, new standards projects and general news and updates, to help you find the standards that will elevate your brand.

Check out the different supporting tools available:

Your national standards organization can help you to find the right standards according to your activities and needs, to help you to understand them and how they link to other standards, as well as help you obtain published standards.

Find your national CEN standardization organization and CENELEC standardization organization.

CEN and CENELEC have established national SME helpdesks: many national standardization organizations offer support tailored for specific sectors and technologies in your language.

They operate in specific industries and may also offer a range of standards-related support and advice services to SMEs

The 'search standards' functions on the CEN and CENELEC website allow you to search the entire collection of published European standards and European standards under development.

You can search for standards by their number and/or by all or part of the tile (in English, French or German). You can consult the scopes of standards and what they enable you to do to help you identify standards relevant to you.

All European standards are published and are available as national standards from the CEN and CENELEC national standardization organizations, often translated into national languages. Most of the CEN and CENELEC national standards organizations make online 'search functions on standards’ available in national languages which makes it easier to trace standards and give guidance on how to search for a standard.

Find your national CEN standardization organization and CENELEC standardization organization.

If you are interested in a specific sector, visit the CEN and CENELEC Areas of Work section.

The CEN BOSS and CENELEC BOSS (Business Operations Support Systems) gives information on processes and structures of European standardization.

Our newsletter ‘On the Spot’ gives general news on standardization:

You can directly participate in the standard-making process by taking part in the public enquiry consultations in your native language. The portals from the National Standardization Organizations, Members of CEN and CENELEC, are listed below as an easy access to support your effective participation in the European Standardization System
