Aerospace

Standards for aerospace components and materials are developed by ASD-STAN, the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe. ASD-STAN has been an Associated Body of CEN since 1986 and contributes the technical content of European standards. These cover the construction, maintenance, and use of aircraft and space vehicles, including propulsion and electrical systems.

Alternative fuels

CEN and CENELEC develop European standardisation deliverables in the field of alternative fuels for aviation, making the bridge with research notably in the framework of the AZEA (Alliance for Zero Emission Aviation) and in support of ALIGHT consortium. The work will ultimately contribute to help the aviation sector to meet the requirements of EU legislation on sustainable aviation (notably Regulation (EU) 2023/2405)

Space

CEN and CENELEC are developing standards for the space sector. Through CEN/CLC/JTC 5 ‘Space’, close cooperation with the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) ensures the adoption of ECSS standards as ENs.
