Why are standards relevant for the consumers

The CEN/WS will develop a CWA aimed to provide a user-centred summative and formative testing methodology for public sector bodies and agencies willing to measure the extent to which local public service delivery (including offline and online modes) empowers refugees and regular immigrants in the fulfilment of their integration goals and in so doing, ultimately enables a full exercise of their acknowledged citizenship rights.

On Tuesday March 8th the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC), together with the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) held a virtual event to celebrate the renewal of their Cooperation Agreement which took place at the end of 2021.

By the end of 2024, USB-C chargers will become the standard charger for the most commonly used electronics in the EU after an agreement was reached between the European Parliament and the Council. CEN and CENELEC welcome this agreement and look forward to further collaboration on this matter.

Data centres have a notoriously high demand of resources: the massively increasing demand for IT services of all kinds continues to lead to rising consumption of (among others) electricity, water and refrigerants. Therefore, it is part of the daily business of a data centre operator to optimise facilities and infrastructures in terms of energy consumption and thus improve the environmental sustainability of the data centre.

Ensuring the electrical compatibility between rolling stock and electric traction systems is crucial for organizing a railway network. The train operating companies must be able to know the electrification parameters to confirm, after consultation with the rolling stock manufacturers, that risks of non-compatibility are minimized and that there will be no consequential disturbances on the electrification system.

This CWA will develop a standardized test methodology for detection, tracking and identification of nefarious drones’ utilising countermeasure systems to protect the lower airspace. This standardized test methodology will be based upon a series of standard user-defined scenarios representing a wide set of use cases (e.g. prison & airport security, critical infrastructure protection, border security, drugs & human trafficking, etc). For these scenarios, operational needs & functional performance requirements will be extracted by end-users. Using this information, an integral test methodology will be developed that allows for a fair qualitative and quantitative comparison between different counter-UAS systems.
