Since the European Accessibility Act (EAA) became applicable last year, service providers have been responsible for ensuring that public areas where they offer a covered service are accessible. On 24 March, the European Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) held a Structured Dialogue with EVP Commissioner Séjourné to discuss the barriers preventing full harmonization of the Single Market. During the exchange, standardization was highlighted as one of the 'Terrible 10' obstacles, with concerns raised that developing a standard takes, on average, eight years.

The Slovenian Institute for Standardization is pleased to welcome four Young Ambassadors of Standardization for 2026. Following the third Autumn School of Standardization, held from 12 to 14 November 2025 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, a fresh team of ambassadors has been selected—three new members joining Erik Vladimir Simić, who continues in his role. This year’s ambassadors are Andraž Andjelić, Erik Vladimir Simić, Danijel Godec, and Mihael Pavlović. The four engineers share one vision: that standardization is here to make our lives better, safer, and easier.

Through new initiatives such as the “Women in Standardization” project and dedicated networking events, the Norwegian Electrotechnical Committee (NEK) is creating arenas where women in electrical and communications standardization can connect, share experiences, and strengthen their role in the industry.
