CENELEC activities in a nutshell

To organize a safe railway network, it is fundamental to have a robust signalling and speed control system. At the European level, the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) is the system deployed for the management and interoperation of signalling for railways by the European Union (EU). The ERTMS ensures interoperability of the national railway systems, reducing the purchasing and maintenance costs of the signalling systems as well as increasing the speed of trains, the capacity of infrastructure and the level of safety in rail transport.

An important milestone was reached in the implementation of the CEN Online Standards Development tool, with the deployment of the remaining stages of the standard drafting process in collaboration with ISO. The end-to-process from Project Creation to Publication is now available for CEN supported deliverables.

The CENELEC Coordination Group (COG) on Offshore Wind was established as a central component of the EISMEA project "Offshore Wind Energy Standardization." Its primary objective is to develop a comprehensive roadmap to adapt existing wind energy standards to the specific needs of offshore wind technologies.
