The CEN Workshop ‘Test method for the evaluation of the adhesive properties of fibre reinforced polymer composite joints’ has developed its first draft CWA.
Mobile devices represent a unique challenge for law enforcement. Due to their wide use, they underpin many criminal investigations. Moreover, criminal offenders, organised crime and terrorist organisations use mobile devices for various purposes, which faces criminal prosecution with many challenges. Law enforcement need not only to access the data stored on mobile devices, but also to provide it as court evidence in a trustworthy and reliable manner.
As a result of a wide-ranging reflection on the future of European Standardization, on 2 February 2022 the European Commission presented the new European Standardization Strategy. The overall objective of the Strategy is to respond to the need for Europe to strengthen the strategic role standards play in the Single and the Global Market.
The Standards+Innovation Awards acknowledge and celebrate every year the important contributions of Researchers, Innovators and Entrepreneurs to Standardization. In 2022, CEN and CENELEC will host the fourth edition of the Standards+Innovation Awards.
On the 2nd of March, the CEN and CENELEC Focus Group Organ-on-Chip (FGOoC) had its Kick-off Meeting. More than 80 stakeholders participated and discussed the potential for standardization and the way forward in this innovative field of biomedical technology.
To aid in the development of a European Professional ICT workforce, it is important to provide education and training fit to meet the requirements of the ICT professional community. This requires enhanced approaches to address the education of new and existing ICT practitioners and the need for continuous professional development.
On 5 April, the ETUC submitted its reply to the consultation on the proposed amendment to article 10 of Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 on European standardization, which the European Commission had issued as part of the new European Standardization Strategy package on 2 February.
On 15 June 2022, SBS will organise its annual conference on the topic of “SMEs setting the standard for sustainable products – Drivers and challenges”. The conference, moderated by Jennifer Baker, will focus on the Sustainable Product Initiative, the impact of the new proposals on European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the role of standards in their implementation.

The Workshop’s aim is to define a framework for developing age-appropriate digital services for situations where users are children. This topic is relevant for both organisations, CEN and CENELEC.
