A new Workshop under CENELEC is being launched to address challenges in electric off-road vehicles. The initiative originates from an EU-funded project titled “Safe Efficient Battery System Based on Advanced Cell Technology (BATSS)”. The Workshop aims to develop a reliable method for accurately characterizing non-standard operating conditions of vehicles (particularly excavators) where usage patterns differ significantly from typical on-road vehicles. The work will complement ongoing standardization efforts within CLC/TC 21X ‘Secondary cells and batteries’. The meeting is open to all interested stakeholders, for more information contact cwa@cencenelec.eu.
Following a recommendation from the Board Standing Committee on Commercial Policy, CEN and CENELEC are organizing a training session on Guide 10 'Policy on the distribution, sale and copyright of CEN and CENELEC content'.
The training will be delivered by Fredrik Fehn, Thilo Schmidt and Pablo Corrons Crespi, members of the former Task Group responsible for the most recent update of Guide 10. Given their direct involvement in the revision process, they are exceptionally well placed to provide a clear and practical overview of the Guide and its application.

The CEN and CENELEC Boards in a Common Session collaborate to jointly oversee and administer the operations of both organizations, uniting their roles and decision-making powers to address shared objectives in European standardization. Together, the CEN board and CENELEC Board hold comprehensive authority to guide, coordinate, and implement policies that impact both CEN and CENELEC. The Common Session enables streamlined decision-making, promotes alignment on strategic priorities, and strengthens the cohesion needed to advance common goals in standardization, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across both organizations.
Another CEN Workshop focused on the climate will be kicked off at the end of the month. Inspired by the research of the EU project “SuPeRBE”, this workshop will help develop a multicriteria assessment system, aiding the evaluation of climate-related risks by local and regional authorities. The resulting CWA will complement the work of CEN/TC 465 ‘Sustainable and Smart Cities and Communities’. The meeting is open to all interested stakeholders, for more information contact cwa@cencenelec.eu.
