CEN and CENELEC were represented by Ulrika Francke, CEN President, and Riccardo Lama, CENELEC President.
The meeting reviewed achievements from its first mandate and looked forward to the second mandate, which will address seven workstreams in 2026:
- Strategic planning and the Annual Union Work Programme for Standardization – to better connect long-term strategic planning with short-term standardization activities
- Education & Skills on standardization, including support, promotion, and introduction of the EU certificate of knowledge in standardization
- Global standards-setting and the EU position – identifying areas where Europe’s interests and priorities align with international standardization efforts and develop strategies to promote Europe’s position in these areas
- Digital Product Passport – support the development of an effective DPP system
- Quantum – support the implementation of the Quantum Europe Strategy on standardization
- Electricity System for Energy – support the transformation of the energy system with standards that meet EU needs
- Standardization for dual-use technologies – support the defence and security agenda by leveraging synergies between civil standardization and the defence sector
The HLF also considered the revision of Regulation 1025/2012 on standardization as an opportunity to modernize the system and accelerate innovation to market.
