Students interview Ruggero Lensi from UNI

The High-Level Forum on European Standardization (HLF) pledged to enhance education and skills in standardization at its second meeting in November 2023. As part of this pledge, HLF participants agreed on a joint initiative to highlight national standardization representatives who are active at the international level.

Some of the participants worked on a project where high-school students develop a series of interviews with the heads of national standardization organizations and present them at the international level.

The first video in the series was prepared by UNI, the Italian National Standardization Body. In early 2025, UNI hosted a training activity on standardization for high-school students, where the students had the chance to interview Ruggero Lensi, the Director General of UNI.

In the video, the students ask Mr Lensi about the many transformations UNI has been through over the years, what its future looks like in a digital world, how Mr Lensi found himself in the world of standardization, and what the day-to-day tasks of a director general involve. They even discover a hidden talent of Mr Lensi!
