The European standards committee CEN/TC 445 ‘Digital information Interchange in the Insurance Industry’ finalised draft European standards for the customer data access and portability in the insurance sector in the context of the requirements of the proposed EU Regulation on a Framework for Financial Data Access (FIDA) and also the data portability of GDPR Article 20. 45 experts from 9 European countries developed the application programming interface (API) standards for the data access to insurance policy data:
- A draft European Standard specifies the interfaces and the data models on the business level for the insurance lines: IBIP, private and occupational pension, motor, private and commercial property and liability, personal accident, legal expenses, travel, and financial loss (trade credit, fidelity, surety).
- A draft Technical Specification delivers Open API specifications (in YAML format) as digital attachments for an instantaneous implementation of the data access APIs.
CEN/TC 445 wants to inform you as interested stakeholder in the insurance sector about these standards and invites you to comment the drafts during the official CEN Enquiry phase from May to July 2026.
Targeted audience: Stakeholders of the insurance sector: insurance companies, insurance intermediaries and their associations.
