Today, there exists an extensive number of detection systems, developed all over the world. Each system can be specific for the detection of one or several agents and may be part of a larger system that integrates the information from all individual systems, processes the data and manages the visualization, notification and operation. However, there are sometimes interoperability constraints, and some of the would-be technically optimal subsystems are incompatible with the overall system.
The CEN Workshop on "Determination of 3-hydroxyvalerate content in PHBV by nuclear magnetic resonance" stems from the ongoing Horizon 2020 upPE-T project, which aims at upcycling recalcitrant oil-based plastics by bioconversion into biodegradable bioplastic for food and drink packaging production. upPE-T includes sustainable strategies as an alternative for plastic chemical degradation, improving PE and PET depolymerization through enzymatic engineering to positively impact food and drink packaging recycling rate and achieving the European Union expected impact.
The forthcoming CEN workshop will focus on the revision of CWA 17815:2021, titled “Materials characterisation - Terminology, metadata and classification,” based on insights from the European project NanoMECommons.

Laminated glass is obtained by bonding glass layers using a polymeric interlayer. One polymer used as interlayer is polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Up to now, most of the post-consumer PVB material in laminated glass is incinerated or landfilled, and only 9 % are recycled in secondary uses. Recycling of PVB presents several difficulties related with the contents of glass, humidity, mixing of compositions and polymer optical degradation.
The planned CEN and CENELEC Workshop intends to develop a CEN and CENELEC Workshop Agreement (CWA) describing a 'Methodology for the data-driven management of production processes', which allows to document the process lifecycle and gain knowledge through its application.
The objective of forensic methods is to obtain results with a measurement quality relevant (e.g., consistent, reliable and accurate) for the criminal justice system. This means that during the introduction or implementation of new forensic methods/technologies a specific step must be taken to prove in an objective way that the method is suitable for its intended use.
The Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) calculation is an auditing process aiming at assessing the automation and control aspects of building. It requires a structured chronological sequence and corresponding obligations in terms of scope, aims and thoroughness. The SRI assessment requires inspection both of physical and operational aspects of building technical systems, including automation and control of building services.
This workshop is motivated by the industry need to identify and clarify the performance criteria of paint and coating systems for defence and security applications. There are numerous international, European, and national paint standards, but they do not take account of military constraints, which are different from those in the civilian sector. This is especially true of testing and performances criteria for land, air, and naval weapons.
