EVS celebrates its 25th anniversary

2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Estonian Centre for Standardisation and Accreditation (EVS). The anniversary is celebrated by digital initiatives highlighting 25 years of progress in standardization in Estonia.

After Estonia regained its independence in 1991, the Standards Board took on the essential task of developing standardization, accreditation, and metrology – it played a key role in shaping these fields during the early years.

In those years, standardization activities gradually transitioned from a centrally mandated system to a voluntary, market-oriented approach aligned with European and international practices. This transition took time, dedication, and extensive cooperation at home and abroad.

In April 2000, a new chapter began with the foundation of the Estonian Centre for Standardization. This year, EVS celebrates its 25th anniversary. Today, the organization comprises 60 active standardization committees and more than 500 dedicated members. The number of valid Estonian standards now exceeds 29,000.

EVS expresses sincere gratitude to all organizations that have contributed to this journey and looks forward to continued collaboration in the years ahead.
