ETUC replies to the public consultation on Regulation 1025/2012 on European Standardization

The European Commission is currently proceeding with the evaluation of Regulation 1025/2012 on European Standardization to determine whether the legislation is still fit for purpose as the basis for the European standardization system. In the framework of the evaluation, the EC launched a public consultation over the summer, to which the ETUC replied, together with a number of trade unions.

The evaluation of the Standardization Regulation, as well as the importance of standardization in addressing European resilience and the twin transitions, were further highlighted in the mission letter from the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to Stéphane Séjourné, the newly nominated Commissioner, Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy.

The European Commission is expected to present the outcome of the evaluation and provide more information on the potential revision of the Regulation on Standardization early next year.
