SBS calls for greater role of SMEs in national and international standardization

In January, SBS published two position papers outlining its recommendations to ensure the interests and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in standardization at the national and international levels. The objective of the publications is to strengthen the participation, role and impact of SMEs and SME experts in the national and international standardization systems.

The position papers, aimed at standards development organizations and relevant decision makers, indicate concrete solutions to be implemented at the policy and technical levels. For instance, some of the recommendations include the need for national standardization bodies to be more proactive and reach out to SME associations and to provide easily accessible information, allowing these businesses to identify relevant standardization developments.
