The CEN-CENELEC Guide 17 'Guidance for writing standards taking into account micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) needs' The aim of this guide, also referred to as the 'SME Standardization Guide' is to raise awareness on the issues that may be of importance to SMEs in the development of standards and to facilitate the increased participation of SMEs in standardization work

On 15 June 2022, SBS will organise its annual conference on the topic of “SMEs setting the standard for sustainable products – Drivers and challenges”. The conference, moderated by Jennifer Baker, will focus on the Sustainable Product Initiative, the impact of the new proposals on European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the role of standards in their implementation.

The first meeting of the High-Level Forum on European Standardization took place on 20 January 2023. Speaking on behalf of ETUC, the European Trade Union Confederation, Vice-President Oliver Roethig made the case for strengthening the involvement of unions in standard setting.

From now on, CEN and CENELEC grant access to the bibliographies of their homegrown standards and standard publications, thus complementing the bibliographic information that is already available on the ISO website for international standards.

A European standard is shaped by those who contribute to its development

CENELEC published a new important standard for the railway community. Developed by CLC/TC 9X ‘Electrical and electronic applications for railways’, EN 50388-2:2025 ‘Fixed installations and rolling stock for railway applications - Technical criteria for the coordination between electric traction power supply systems and rolling stock to achieve interoperability - Part 2: Stability and harmonics’ establishes the acceptance criteria, according to EN 50388-1:2022, for the compatibility between traction units and power supply for known phenomena and known technologies.

This webinar is geared towards helping standards drafters use Word more confidently and efficiently when drafting standards and interacting with CCMC editors. This webinar is based on input from participants regarding trouble or issues they have with drafting standards in Word. These issues will be discussed and demonstrated in the webinar. Please note that this is not a webinar for general IT help, but that the scope is solely on drafting standards.
