A first edition of the European Standardization Panel Survey (ESPS) was launched on 14 October, on the occasion of World Standards Day. The Survey presents over 100.000 European standardization experts with an opportunity to address their innovation needs, and to gain a better understanding of the industry’s needs for standardization deriving from Research & Innovation (R&I).

The European Commission offers all stakeholders the opportunity to provide input for the development of the Horizon Europe work programme 2025, which sets out the funding opportunities for research and innovation activities coming up next year.

Thirty years ago, the global economy was placed on a new footing in Vienna: the Vienna Agreement set the course for even closer co-operation and collaboration. What has changed since then? Fewer barriers to trade, more harmonized rules and more room for innovation. Under the heading "From global to local: Joining forces to help global standards create local impact", the leaders of international standardization organizations such as CEN and ISO met again in Vienna on 11 October to further advance international co-operation.

Standardization plays a crucial role in enabling the success of the Single Market and contributing to broader EU policy goals such as the twin transition. CEN, CENELEC and their Spanish member, Asociación Española de Normalización (UNE), welcome the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and eagerly anticipate the opportunity to work together in building a green, resilient and competitive Europe.

On 15 March, the European Standards Organisations (ESOs), CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, joined forces with ENISA, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, to organise their 6th annual conference. The virtual conference focused on ‘European Standardization in support of the EU cybersecurity legislation’ and attracted over 900 attendees from the EU and from around the world.

The 2023 edition of the CEN and CENELEC Standards+Innovation Awards was presented on 26 October 2023 as part of the EU stakeholder event “Making research results work for society”.

Brussels – 29 September 2021, Industrial data is of ever-increasing importance for companies in Europe and the world, and particularly so in the context of the digitization of industry. On this topic, on Tuesday 28 September, CEN, CENELEC and ETSI co-organised an online stakeholders’ workshop dedicated to exploring how standards can support the industrial data value chain.
