In-Mould Electronics (IME), also known as plastronics, is used to enhance the device integration process, increasing resistance to humidity and wear and tear, and adding custom-made connectors. IME will also serve as a manufacturing process for the advanced materials with better conductive and resistant properties proposed in the project.  This technology allows to create plastronic products combining electronics’ functional printing and electronic components’ hybridisation with traditional plastic transformation processes, such as thermoforming and injection moulding.

The Workshop will produce a CEN-CENELEC Workshop Agreement (CWA) for a set of protocols to ensure a standardised and formalised selection of processes for Modernising, Refurbishing, Repair, Remanufacturing, and Upgrading of Large Industrial Equipment.

By assuming the presidency of the EU Council for the next six months(#EUFP2022), France has the ambition to reinforce Europe’s strategic autonomy. CEN and CENELEC, two of the officially recognised European standardization organizations, and AFNOR, the French Standardization Association, commit to fully deploy the power of European standards on strategic subjects and to contribute to a stronger role for Europe in the world.

On 15 March, the European Standards Organisations (ESOs), CEN, CENELEC and ETSI, joined forces with ENISA, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity, to organise their 6th annual conference. The virtual conference focused on ‘European Standardization in support of the EU cybersecurity legislation’ and attracted over 900 attendees from the EU and from around the world.

At a pivotal time in Europe, CEN, CENELEC and their Czech Member ÚNMZ welcome the opportunity to play a key role in contributing to the priorities of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU. For the next six months, we will work closely with the Presidency to leverage the power of European Standards in the context of a changing Europe.

CEN and CENELEC are fully committed to ensuring that, through their standards, goods and services are equally accessible to all. In this context, they just released the updated “CEN-CENELEC Protocol on accessibility following a Design for All approach in standardization”.

On Friday 11 February, CEN and CENELEC were happy to host Kerstin Jorna, Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), at their Brussels headquarters.

The 32nd meeting of CEN-CENELEC Working Group of the Technical Boards ‘STAIR’ (STAndards, Innovation and Research) took place on Thursday 24 February. STAIR is the focal point within CEN and CENELEC for any matter related to integrating standardization with innovation and research.

CEN welcome the consultation on the New Legislative Framework as a critical development in the joint efforts to build a harmonised Single Market, which encourages the alignment of strategies for and with the use of standardization as a key asset.
