On 29 June, Small Business Standards (SBS) gathered nearly 100 guests at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels for its Stakeholder Reception and inaugural Awards Ceremony, the highlight of the 4th edition of MeetingStandards.
The Standard of the Year 2025 award went to EN ISO 27799:2026 ‘Health informatics — Information security controls in health based on ISO/IEC 27002 (ISO 27799:2025)’. Published in January 2026, the standard strengthened health information security while keeping compliance achievable for SMEs, thanks to a risk-based, scalable approach that SBS championed throughout its development. It is set to become a real differentiator for health tech SMEs navigating the NIS2 Directive. With the standard now published, attention turned to supporting its adoption at the regional level through CEN and CENELEC, and to developing practical implementation guidance for small providers.
The SBS Expert of the Year 2025 award went to Emilia Tantar, PhD, recognized for her outstanding contribution to AI standardization and her work making cyber resilience accessible to SMEs across Europe.
