We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming CEN and CENELEC activities in 2026.
The Joint Boards & Technical Boards Workshop aims to foster alignment around a shared vision for the future of European Standardization. Against a backdrop of digital transformation and increasing complexity, it will explore how strategic initiatives like the Long-Term Vision and the Standardization Hub translate into practical implementation. The session will foster dialogue, clarify roles and responsibilities, and address challenges faced at the technical level.
The high-level study visit of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is organized by the World Bank Group. The objective is to exchange on the opportunities and challenges of governing AI in a rapidly evolving global context. It will be an occasion to present the CEN and CENELEC initiatives and activities in AI standardization.
The Industry Advisory Forum (IAF) brings together industry representatives and serves as a strategic platform to tackle key challenges, explore emerging trends, and reinforces the role of standardization in strengthening Europe’s competitiveness. By delivering valuable insights on business model innovation, disruptive technologies, and the future of standardization, the IAF continues to support CEN and CENELEC in navigating an increasingly complex landscape.

InDiCo-Global is going to organize a one-day workshop in Jakarta about the European Standardization System (ESS). The objective is to connect stakeholders and find new ways of collaboration by focusing on selected ICT/digital topics. The workshop will be conducted in line with an institutional mission to Jakarta, organized by the GIST project.
Before taking off for their summer holidays, students in Austria are invited for an Academic Standards Day at the University of Graz, organized together with ASI. The day will offer students the possibility to indulge in standardization and its role for researchers and for businesses. The days will also feature a “favourite standard” video competition.

The CEN and CENELEC Boards in a Common Session collaborate to oversee and administer the operations of both organizations, uniting their roles and decision-making powers to address shared objectives in European standardization. Together, the CEN/Board and CENELEC/Board hold comprehensive authority to guide, coordinate, and implement policies that impact both CEN and CENELEC. The Common Session enables streamlined decision-making, promotes alignment on strategic priorities, and strengthens the cohesion needed to advance common goals in standardization, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across both organizations.
The CEN and CENELEC Annual Meeting, hosted by CYS in Agia Napa, starts with a session for the Heads of Delegation of CEN and CENELEC on 17 June 2026 and 18 June 2026. A paralelle session is organized for the CEN and CENELEC Affiliates in the morning of 18 June 2026. The common session of the CEN/AG and CENELEC/AG will start in the afternoon of 18 June 2026 and will continue on 19 June 2026. The individual sessions of the CEN/AG and CENELEC/AG – including elections – will take place in the afternoon of 19 June 2026.
On 24 June, the European Academy for Standardization e.V., the objective of which is to promote research, education, and publication in the field of standardization, will open the doors to its 30th conference. The theme of the conference, which will take place in Graz, is “Values in Standards”. Prior to the start of the conference, EURAS will host a workshop for PhD students which will include a session called “What the heck?”, exploring why research in standardization is not only important but also fun.
