The Croatian Standards Institute (HZN) actively supported the Croatian Engineers’ Day 2026, reaffirming its strong connection with the engineering community and the important role of standards in building a resilient and sustainable society.
The event, organized by the Croatian Engineering Association and held in Zagreb, brought together representatives of institutions, ministries, professional chambers, academia, industry, and associations, as well as the representatives of HZN, and reaffirmed the importance of the engineering profession in the development of society and industry. The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets and the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure. The participants were welcomed by state secretaries: Prof. Stjepan Lakušić, Ph.D, Chancellor of the University of Zagreb; Stanislav Kurajica, member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Prof. Josip Margaletić, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, and Luka Jelić, President of the Croatian Engineering Association.
HZN was represented by its Director-General, Ana Marija Boljanović, Ph.D., with engineers from HZN, highlighting the importance of synergy between standardization, engineering, and industry.
Presentations and a panel discussion highlighted the need to strengthen knowledge dissemination, interdisciplinarity, and the development of future-oriented competencies. The conclusion of the event was clear: without strong engineering science and the application of standards, there is no sustainable development.
By participating in the Engineers’ Day, HZN continues to actively promote standards as a key tool for safety, innovation, and competitiveness.
