We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming CEN and CENELEC activities in 2026.
As part of the Horizon Europe funded project Edu4Standards.eu, the Institute for Standardization Serbia (ISS) is organizing an Academic Standards Day in Belgrade, together with the University of Belgrade, where students from all backgrounds will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the topic of standardization. The University of Belgrade is also a partner in the project and has co-developed a teacher support tool in the framework of the project to support instructors in including standardization in their curricula.

This HoD Session, open only to two representatives per CEN and CENELEC Members, builds on the outcomes of the HoD Sessions in Oslo and Amsterdam and will pave the way towards the next session taking place in Cyprus during the Annual Meeting in June. It starts on Monday, 13 April 2026, at 14.00 and continues on Tuesday, 14 April 2026 in the morning, followed by lunch. Deadline for registration is on Friday, 3 April 2026, COB. Link here.

How can technical standards help protect human rights in the age of AI, 5G, and the metaverse? A seminar organized by the European Commission, the UN Human Rights Office, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will bring together governments, industry, civil society, and standards bodies to explore this question. The hybrid event focuses on ensuring that digital technologies are developed with privacy, non-discrimination, and human dignity built in from the start.
The MRMC is in charge of all assessment processes related to adoption and adherence to Membership criteria by all current Members, as well as oversees the evaluation of the fulfilment of Membership criteria by candidate organizations, Affiliates or all other organizations (NSBs/NCs) with a framework with CEN and/or CENELEC.
The role of the CEN and CENELEC BSC ElGo is to assess compliance with the eligibility criteria as defined in the Statutes of all candidates for open positions in the governing bodies, as well as to develop, maintain, and enforce governance rules and policies and codes of conduct for the association.

The InDiCo-Global project, bringing together ETSI, CEN, and CENELEC, will present progress on its capacity building activities in low- and middle-income countries to its advisory body, at the invitation of DG CNECT. The meeting offers an opportunity to take stock of how the initiative connects the European Standardization System with partners worldwide.

CEN and CENELEC, on behalf of the European Standardization Organizations, is leading a mission to Nigeria to provide institutional backing to the GIST Project in Nigeria and engage with ICT authorities and key national stakeholders. Led by Ms Andreea GULACSI, Director Policy & External Affairs at CEN and CENELEC, the visit will help strengthen dialogue, cooperation, and partnership in support of the project’s objectives.
