The International Federation of Standards Users (IFAN) is pleased to announce the launch of its new official podcast, a communication initiative designed to give greater visibility to the perspectives of those who use, implement, and rely on standards every day.
The podcast has been conceived as a practical and accessible platform to explore how standards work in real life: how they support innovation, market access, safety, and sustainability, and how users can actively contribute to their development. Through open conversations with senior leaders, practitioners, and experts, IFAN aims to strengthen its role as the global voice of standards users and to foster dialogue across the international standardization ecosystem.
The first episode sets the tone for the series by focusing on the mission and the underlying idea of the podcast itself. It features Ruggero Lensi, General Director of UNI, who shares his perspective on the value of standards, the importance of user engagement, and the evolving role of national and international standards bodies in a rapidly changing world. Listen to the first episode here.
In this inaugural conversation, Mr Lensi reflects on why listening to users is essential to ensure that standards remain relevant, usable, and effective. He also discusses how initiatives such as the IFAN podcast can help bridge the gap between standards developers and standards users, encouraging collaboration and mutual understanding.
With this new podcast, IFAN seeks to complement existing communication channels and to reach a wider, more diverse audience, including members of the CEN and CENELEC communities. The initiative reflects a shared interest in promoting effective standardization by ensuring that the experience and needs of users are clearly heard and understood.
