New milestone in OSD: full CEN standardization process now available

An important milestone was reached in the implementation of the CEN Online Standards Development tool, with the deployment of the remaining stages of the standard drafting process in collaboration with ISO. The end-to-process from Project Creation to Publication is now available for CEN supported deliverables.

Together with ISO and IEC, the new Online Standards Development (OSD) tool aims to provide a collaborative, Word-like online editing tool, optimized for the CEN and CENELEC standards development process, which experts will use to draft their standards and will then flow through to steps of the production chain. This will increase collaboration, inclusivity and efficiency while resulting in higher-quality standards.

Currently, the OSD tool is available on request for the following CEN homegrown deliverables: European Standards (EN) non harmonized, Technical Requirements (TR), and Technical Specifications (TS). More than 200 projects from 65 Technical Committees have been opened in CEN OSD since the project’s start.

The OSD project team is focused on three main subjects: the operationalization of OSD within CEN processes, the analysis to support CEN harmonized standards in OSD, and the implementation of a CENELEC OSD in collaboration with IEC.

All information about the project and how to get started with the tool can be found on the OSD project webpage:
