As part of the cooperation between the Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST) and innovative Slovenian companies, Eva Pevec and Aleksander Velkavrh, SIST’s young standardization ambassadors, visited 360 Karting, a globally recognized provider of premium karting tracks. The purpose of the visit was to understand how standards are integrated and applied in the design, production, and testing of modern entertainment products.
The visit began with a presentation about the company and its development philosophy. The host gave the ambassadors a tour of the company’s facilities, where a team of engineers and designers work daily on new karting track concepts, from initial sketches on paper, through 3D modelling, to precise technical planning that incorporates international standards for safety, materials, and structural integrity.
The ambassadors paid special attention to the indoor test karting track, which the company uses not only for testing but also as a key sales tool. This in-house track serves as a demonstration point, allowing potential buyers from around the world to experience it first hand. At the same time, the company offers them the opportunity to participate in the design of their future track.
The highlight of the visit was a hands-on experience: test driving on the karting track, where the young standardization ambassadors themselves got behind the wheel. This allowed them to personally experience how detailed engineering plans and standards translate into a tangible user experience.
The visit was an excellent opportunity to bridge theory and practice, and it served as an inspiring example of how standardization is not merely an abstract set of rules, but a vital part of the creative and innovative process in companies operating in the global market.
The young SIST ambassadors returned from 360 Karting enthusiastic, enriched with new knowledge, and even more motivated to promote the importance of standards among young people.
