The European Commission standardization request in support of EU policy on artificial intelligence (European Commission C (2023)3215), issued in May 2023, requires facilitating an appropriate representation and effective participation of relevant stakeholders in the development of the standards mandated to support the AI Act.
With this view, a dedicated Task Group (TG) on Inclusiveness was set up within CEN-CENELEC JTC 21 ‘AI’ to reflect on ways to reach out to relevant stakeholders. One of the means put in place by the TG to facilitate a broader participation was to share updated information on AI standardization and related activities to all interested parties via the regular publication of a newsletter.
The first issue of the AI standardization Inclusiveness Newsletter was published on 16 January 2024 and garnered much interest. It was therefore decided that the newsletter would continue to be circulated through JTC 21 and further distributed to its wider membership. The ETUC is providing secretariat work for the newsletter. Any request to be included in the distribution list or suggestions for publication should be sent to TG_Inclusiveness@etuc.org.
