SIST participated to the Career Week at Ljubljana’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering

To promote standardization among younger generations, the Slovenian Institute for Standardization (SIST) took part to the “Career Week” hosted by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Ljubljana between 22 and 26 May.

It was a good opportunity for SIST to meet with the students of the faculty and with other Slovenian companies. The main goal of this participation was to present standardization to students and encourage them to join technical committees in the future as representatives of companies.

The event was also an excellent opportunity for SIST to present its major project scheduled for this autumn in cooperation with the faculty, the “Autumn school of standardization”. SIST asked the students to complete a short survey on their interest in joining the project in autumn, with overwhelmingly positive responses.

The autumn school is planned to be a multi-day workshop at the faculty, with detailed presentation on what the work in technical committees looks like and what the advantages of being involved in standardisation are, especially in the early stages of standards development. Also, SIST will introduce their Product Contact Point, and other activities such as seminars, sales, information services, etc....

By presenting its standardization work to university students, SIST wants to foster the interest of young people in standardization, as they are the ones who will create the future.
