CEN and CENELEC discussed the European Standardization Strategy with Members of the European Parliament

On 28 June, members of the CEN and CENELEC European Policy Hub (EPH) organised an after-work get-together with Members of the European Parliament, their assistants and policy advisors of the political groups in Brussels. The aim of the event was to exchange views on the new European Standardization Strategy and other current political developments in the field of standardization.

In addition to an introduction to the European standardization system, the bilateral exchange focused on geopolitical challenges in standardization and on the Standardization Strategy’s planned measures, including the introduction of a High-Level Forum to help set priorities and the challenges "common specifications" pose in new and revised legal acts.

The European Standardization Strategy will be discussed in the European Parliament starting in the fall. The Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) will take the lead on preparing the Parliament’s own-initiative report on the subject.
