In today’s interconnected world, digital technologies play a central role in enabling communication, innovation, and economic growth. In the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, ensuring interoperability between products, systems, and services is essential. Standards help guarantee that devices such as computers, peripherals, and other electronic systems from different manufacturers can work together seamlessly.
European Standards are vital enablers of the EU Digital Single Market, promoting a cohesive and inclusive digital society. They also offer a strategic advantage for businesses entering the global marketplace.
CEN and CENELEC are actively engaged in developing standards across key ICT areas such as Smart Grids, Cybersecurity, ICT skills, Artificial Intelligence, and Distributed Ledger Technologies. In this context, CEN and CENELEC collaborate closely with ISO to ensure alignment with global standards and facilitate international compatibility.

The group ensures that European interests are well represented in global discussions.
