Chairman: Jean-Marie Bodson
Secretary: Thierry Legrand
The Sector Forum Rail constitues of representives from the railway industry (supply industry and networks), European/International professional organizations (such as UIC, UNIFE, UITP), Railway Applications Technical Committee Chairman or project leaders.
CEN, CENELEC or ETSI central secretariats, TC Secretaries and CEN Consultants may also be invited.
The Chairman occasionally represents the railway applications sector at high level technical groups (such as CEN or CENELEC Technical Boards).
The CEN/CENELEC Joint Programming Committee Rail was created in the early 1990s.
The main aim was to initiate European standardization activities in view of the support to European Union directives under development such as the (at that time) draft EC directive co-ordinating the procurement procedures of entities operating in water, energy, transport and telecommunications sectors.
In 1994, ETSI joined the programming committee which was subsequently renamed CEN/CENELEC/ETSI Joint Programming Committee (JPC) Rail.
The organization of the JPC Rail was re-defined in autumn 2011 and its name aligned to the updated terminology (i.e. Sector Forum).
