Austrian Standards is taking a pioneering role and is the first standardization organization in Europe to offer objective evidence in the form of certification for people who can support AI projects in the spirit of digital humanism. The first globally available standard for ethical system design ISO/IEC/IEEE 24748-7000 forms the basis for this, in combination with elements of the management standard ISO/IEC 42001 on AI. Responsible handling of AI and digital data requires predetermined framework conditions, including reliable standards.

In light of the IEC's decision to conduct their General Meeting online and the reservations expressed by many of our peers about traveling to Cairo, we have had to revaluate our plans for the "Power of Standardization in Building the African and European Single Markets" seminar. Small Business Standards (SBS) published its call for experts for the year 2025. This call aims to appoint experts to represent the interests of SMEs in standardization work at the EU and international level in Technical Committees (TCs) of CEN, CENELEC, ETSI, ISO and IEC.

After a very successful first webinar, the 2nd webinar “Highlights in Circular Economy standardization” will be held in October 26th from 1 to 3 PM. It is organized by the CEN-CLC SABE Topic Group Circular Economy (SABE CE-TG) with the objective of providing guidance to CEN and CENELEC technical bodies in the preparation of circular economy related standards. This workshop will provide participants with practical information regarding standardization activities and best practices related to circular economy and material efficiency topics from three CEN and CENELEC or ISO and IEC committees.
