One of the main benefits of European standards is that they make the products we use daily safer. This value is evident in EN IEC 62115:2020 “Electric toys – Safety”, which has been recently published together with its European amendment A11:2020.

This webinar aims to provide first-hand information to CENELEC Technical Bodies on the functioning and state-of-play of the process to request Common Modifications to projects in parallel with IEC, and at the inclusion of Annex Z and Annex ZA during the parallel development. We will provide further guidance and explain roles and responsibilities of the different parties as well as emphasis the right moment to introduce requests and make the relevant documentation available.

In light of the IEC's decision to conduct their General Meeting online and the reservations expressed by many of our peers about traveling to Cairo, we have had to revaluate our plans for the "Power of Standardization in Building the African and European Single Markets" seminar. Regrettably, the seminar scheduled for Tuesday, 24 October 2023 will be cancelled.

IEC and CENELEC are committed to develop standards helping to meet today’s technological and societal challenges as well as those that society will face in the future. The high level of convergence between CENELEC and IEC standards is facilitated by the ongoing technical cooperation between both organizations, materialized by the Frankfurt Agreement. This webinar is co-organized by CENELEC and IEC and will provide participants with an overview of the Frankfurt Agreement. Some practical information on how IEC and CENELEC work together as well as some details on the links between the European Standardization System and European legislation will be given during the webinar.

The objective of this webinar is to describe the new process for harmonized standards that are developed in parallel with ISO and IEC. The goal of this new process is to improve the timely delivery of compliant EN ISO/IEC harmonised Standards, by building on principles of the innovative process, while minimizing interferences with international project timeframes. The new process applies to all projects under parallel development reaching the CD stage at ISO and IEC level.

After a very successful first webinar, the 2nd webinar “Highlights in Circular Economy standardization” will be held in October 26th from 1 to 3 PM. It is organized by the CEN-CLC SABE Topic Group Circular Economy (SABE CE-TG) with the objective of providing guidance to CEN and CENELEC technical bodies in the preparation of circular economy related standards. This workshop will provide participants with practical information regarding standardization activities and best practices related to circular economy and material efficiency topics from three CEN and CENELEC or ISO and IEC committees.
