The aim of the forthcoming Workshop is the development of a CEN-CENELEC workshop on ‘Modular and cross-cutting Power Take-Off units for wave energy converters. Interface mechanical requirements and laboratory testing’.
The workshop is proposed within the context of the SEA-TITAN project funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 – The Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, which objective is to design, build, test and validate a crosscutting and innovative Direct Drive Power Take-Off solution to be used with multiple types of wave energy converter.
This CEN-CENELEC Workshop aims to agree on well-defined specifications leading to the publication of the following CEN-CENELEC Workshops Agreements (CWAs):
- Requirements for the mechanical interface of a modular and crosscutting Power Take-Off for wave direct drive linear solutions – aiming at providing a mutual international understanding about mechanical interfaces applicable for linear direct drive PTO’s for wave applications and specified to be adopted by as many wave energy device developers as possible, mainly puntual absorbers wave energy developers, generating a seed for the technology convergence in the sector, so modularity and crosscutting issues are along the most relevant points of discussion.
- Methodology, procedures and equipment required for the laboratory testing of a modular and crosscutting Power Take-Off for wave energy converters - aiming at establishing a methodology and the required equipment in order to test and validate in dry laboratories power take-off (PTO) used for wave energy
The Workshop is proposed by the SEA-TITAN project consortium (see in draft Project Plan) and the Secretariat is hold by the Spanish Association for Standardisation, UNE.
The kick-off meeting will be held on 10 August 2020 by teleconference.
