This Workshop seeks to bring together the 5G/Internet of Things (IoT) technology (vertical) user communities and the 5G/IoT technology provider (horizontal) communities to discuss and outline licensing best practices and a Code of Conduct for licensing industry Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) that reflect and balance the legitimate needs of both communities and so ensure fair and efficient licensing in the IoT. The Workshop will also consider ways to improve and ideally streamline or make the licensing process more systematic.
The consensus outcome of the Workshop will be published as a CEN-CENELEC Workshop Agreement (CWA).
The kick-off meeting was held on 6 October 2017 in Paris, AFNOR premises (11 rue Francis de Pressence, 93571 La Plaine Saint-Denis Cedex, France).
Interested parties can register to the Workshop by sending an email to the Workshop Secretary Ms. Melissa Jean.
This Workshop WS-SEP is one of two Workshops addressing SEPs and standards. More information on the other Workshop: WS-SEP2.
