CEN and CENELEC hosted a training on accessibility in standards

On 20th February at the CEN and CENELEC Management Centre (CCMC), experts from the CEN/BT/WG 213 Strategic Advisory Group on Accessibility (SAGA) offered training sessions to CCMC staff, Technical Committees and Working Groups. The trainings focussed on how to achieve accessibility following a ‘Design for All approach’ when reviewing an existing standard or for any new standardization project.
In order to achieve this, a new formal process - called ‘the protocol’ – has been put into place to provide guidance to the Technical Committees and Working Groups. The document sets out a decision procedure on how accessibility should be addressed when reviewing existing or developing new standards has been put in place. The protocol and guidance documents can be downloaded from the CEN-CENELEC website.
