Draft CWA 'Principles and guidance for licensing Standard Essential Patents in 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT), including the Industrial Internet': public review and commenting period is extended till 31/12/2018 (24:00 CET)

The CEN and CENELEC Joint Workshop “Best Practices and a Code of Conduct for Licensing Industry Standard Essential Patents in the Internet of Things (IoT) / Industrial Internet”, whose Secretariat is held by AFNOR, and which is sponsored by IP Europe and Nokia, agreed on a draft CWA. The public review and commenting period for the draft CWA has been extended until 31 December 2018 (24:00 CET). More information on the process to do so can be found on the CEN-CENELEC website.

Comments received will be reviewed by the Workshop during January 2019. The consensus outcome of the Workshop will then be officially published as a CEN-CENELEC Workshop Agreement (CWA).

For more information, please contact Luc Van den Berghe (CEN-CENELEC) and Melissa Jean (AFNOR).

Note: In a parallel Workshop, proposed by the Fair Standards Alliance and ACT | The App Association, a set of alternative views on the subject of the licensing of SEPs is being developed, aiming to deliver their CWA early 2019.
