On 17 April, CEN and CENELEC, two of the official European Standardization Organizations, hosted JISC (the Japanese Industrial Standards Committee) in their Brussels headquarters to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their Cooperation Agreement.
Brussels, 12 January - Taking over from the Spanish Presidency, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union began on the 1st of January and will continue until June 2024. CEN and CENELEC, together with their Belgian members, NBN, the Belgian Organization for Standards and Standardization, and CEB-BEC, the Belgian Electrotechnical Committee, are committed to collaborating with the Belgian Presidency to ensure that European Standards are recognized as a vital tool for both present and future issues facing the European Union.
The EU Industry Days are Europe’s flagship annual event focusing on key industrial policy discussions, connecting industrial frontrunners, and boosting the knowledge base of European industry. Every year, they provide an opportunity to companies, entrepreneurs, organizations, national ministries, regional authorities and other industrial stakeholders to organise their own sessions as part of the official programme.

The new Regulation (EU) 2022/2480 of 14 December 2022, amending Regulation (EU) No 1025/2012 and focusing on the decisions on European standardization organisations concerning European standards and European standardization deliverables, will be applicable as of 9 July 2023.

Elena Santiago Cid, CEN and CENELEC’s Director General, spoke at the “Cooperating on Digital Policy and Tech Standards” panel during the dedicated hybrid stakeholder roundtable at the occasion of the third Ministerial Meeting of the Trade and Technology Council (TTC) between the EU and the US. The TTC is a key forum to deepen transatlantic cooperation to facilitate trade and develop global standards on technology and security.
CEN and CENELEC are happy to welcome the standardization bodies of Ukraine (DSTU), Georgia (GEOSTM) and Moldova (ISM) as Affiliates. This decision furthers the consolidation of the links between the EU and the three Eastern Partnership countries.
