For this reason, CEN and CENELEC are proud to endorse the London Declaration on the commitment of international standards to climate action.
Brussels/Paris – 11 January 2021 - By assuming the presidency of the EU Council for the next six months(#EUFP2022), France has the ambition to reinforce Europe’s strategic autonomy. CEN and CENELEC, two of the officially recognised European standardization organizations, and AFNOR, the French Standardization Association, commit to fully deploy the power of European standards on strategic subjects and to contribute to a stronger role for Europe in the world.
On 7 December, fourteen experts holding the Chair or Secretariat of a CEN and CENELEC Technical Body were celebrated at the CEN and CENELEC Technical Body Awards. The ceremony took place in a hybrid format from CEN and CENELEC’s Brussels headquarters.
The CEN and CENELEC General Assemblies, meeting today in Palermo, Italy, have overwhelmingly confirmed the British Standards Institution’s (BSI) continued membership of the two associations from 1 January 2022.

On 21 October, the European Committee of Standardization (CEN), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission (JRC) renewed their cooperation agreement for further five years. Through the agreement, the three organisations aim to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise between scientific research and European standardization.
Brussels/Vienna – 12 October 2021 - Thirty years ago, the global economy was placed on a new footing in Vienna: the Vienna Agreement set the course for even closer co-operation and collaboration. What has changed since then? Fewer barriers to trade, more harmonized rules and more room for innovation. Under the heading "From global to local: Joining forces to help global standards create local impact", the leaders of international standardization organizations such as CEN and ISO met again in Vienna on 11 October to further advance international co-operation.
Brussels – 29 September 2021, Industrial data is of ever-increasing importance for companies in Europe and the world, and particularly so in the context of the digitization of industry. On this topic, on Tuesday 28 September, CEN, CENELEC and ETSI co-organised an online stakeholders’ workshop dedicated to exploring how standards can support the industrial data value chain.
