Call For Tender - Execution of a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) pilot process using pyrolysis oil

Under the Renewable Energy Directive, fuels produced through co-processing can be accounted for their bio-based part. The European Commission sees the need for a verifiable option for allocating that bio-based content. As co-processing in a refinery is no constant factor, a viable alternative to Carbon14 testing – which is quite imprecise at the low levels of bio-based content - is required.

The main objective of the project is to produce the basis of a mass balance standard for co-refining  of fast-pyrolysis bio-oil (FPBO).

The idea is that a realistic refinery co-process – ideally an fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) type - is executed at small scale with 0, 5 and 10% of FPBO and a set of process parameters is reported. So we are looking for a facility that can offer that capability and expertise.
