CEN and CENELEC, together with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), the European Commission (EC) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) run visibility projects that aim at promoting the European Standardization Model outside Europe.

These visibility projects target countries that are important trade partners of the European Union. Their objective is to enhance the visibility and understanding of the benefits of the European standardization model, to increase the cooperation between standardization bodies and support European companies facing standardization related issues hampering market access to these countries. They ultimately support European industries interested in boosting their business in these specific countries.

The projects are implemented by an expert, the so-called 'Seconded European Standardization Expert', with the support of a Steering Committee composed of the five project partners. The role of the expert is to promote the values and features of the European Standardization System, to gather market intelligence covering the project priority sectors and support European industries facing market access issues.
