APRIS II (November 2006 - December 2010) was the second phase of the ASEAN-EU Programme for Regional Integration Support (APRIS), co-financed by the ASEAN Secretariat and the European Commission.
The APRIS II Programme aimed to further develop the process of ASEAN integration, with specific focus on supporting the realization of the ASEAN Economic Community, and strengthen EU-ASEAN relations as a whole, including through the Trans-Regional EU-ASEAN Trade Initiative (TREATI) and Regional EC-ASEAN Dialogue Instrument (READI).
This Programme was divided into five components, of which, one related to Standards and Conformance was managed by CEN. The expected results of this component were the development and implementation of common ASEAN standards, conformity assessment, sanitary and phyto-sanitary standards and other technical regulations in specific sectors in line with the Vientiane Action Programme and modelled on the EU system where applicable.
The harmonisation with international standards and the establishment of an ASEAN Post Market Surveillance system to ensure that the technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures are implemented in practice will support those results and guarantee sustainability.
