Technical Assistance

Technical Assistance (TA) is a very effective way to promote the key elements of the European Quality Infrastructure Model, its benefits and success. Through TA projects CEN and CENELEC aim at improving the beneficiaries’ quality infrastructure, help them reach market convergence and technical harmonization with the European Single Market.

Funding for these cooperation projects comes from well-known international donors, such as the European Commission, the Swedish International Development Agency, the UNIDO or World Bank.

The principles for our participation in technical assistance projects are detailed in the CEN-CENELEC Guide 27 on CEN and CENELEC involvement in Technical Assistance projects.

Our strength in TA programmes

  • CEN and CENELEC can rely on a huge network of experts (over 60.000);
  • we have expertise that not only covers standardization but other fields of quality as well: conformity assessment, metrology, technical regulations, market surveillance, accreditation;
  • CEN and CENELEC have a long history in managing TA programmes – the first, targeted to Poland and Hungary, was in 1991!
